Motivation to lose weight is an important issue. Millions of people around the world are struggling with a serious obesity problem. As a society we are becoming more aware that physical beauty is more than just a factor in modern life. There are many unhealthy habits and behaviours that negatively impact not only our physical appearance but our mental well being as well.

So what is the motivation to lose weight? The main problem is that there is now a growing body of research revealing that some of the popular techniques promoted by so-called weight loss experts are actually not only ineffective but WORES waste efforts. Here I have chosen the six most common motivational techniques promoted by most weight loss gurus, to see how effective they actually are, and whether or not they really work. Please note that all of these methods can be effective if used correctly, I have chosen those which I have personally tried and liked best. However, please bear in mind that like anything else, there is no "short cut" to your long-term success - you must adopt a system that suits YOU, stick with it and remember that nothing comes without effort!
o Visualization and Hypnosis. This is perhaps the most common form of motivation to lose weight. You visualise yourself at your desired weight, with the physique of your dreams, complete with those rock hard abs. Your diet is ignored. Your mindset is altered towards losing weight, getting healthy and living better.
Unfortunately this form of motivation to lose weight is doomed to failure. You see, there is a very important factor involved in any successful weight loss plan. Your mindset is of paramount importance. If you are going to rely on a "dream" of yourself losing 50 pounds in a month, then you better believe that you can achieve it - and it's going to take a massive amount of willpower and determination to overcome the obstacles that stand in your way.
So, what do you do when you are motivated and ready to lose weight? Well you must make yourself change your mindset and adopt a new way of thinking about weight loss. Instead of seeing yourself as fat, pick yourself as the determined, healthier, and more confident person that you want to be. Replace the unhealthy negative images with positive images and feelings; picture yourself as a happy, healthy, and vibrant individual who is well on the road to achieving great health and fitness.
o Dieting. If you're serious about losing a lot of weight, then dieting is necessary. It's a necessary part of the motivation to lose weight process. You simply can't eat every day, you will get tired and hungry very quickly, so you must plan what to eat and when.
o Role Model. Role models are everywhere - they are in the media, in magazines, at the gym, in schools, etc. Being surrounded by a constant set of positive images of people who have achieved great health, strength, and weight loss is very motivational - it gives you the desire to be like these role models yourself and put yourself in their position.
When you are starting out and trying to lose weight, it can be difficult to gain motivation initially. But after a while, you will notice a steady increase in your motivation to lose weight and eventually get yourself to that point where you will not only be motivated to lose weight but also expect great results. It's not just enough to start doing something, you must stay committed. Stay patient. Motivation is important for weight loss.
